Alright so now that you all know a higly shortened version of my first month, I thought I might tell you a bit about the college I am studying at and a bit about Dublin as well. :)
College: Griffith College Dublin, it's nice, it's SMALL, it's Hogwarts!
The first few classes I had, I was like a rat in a maze trying to sniff out some cheese. My first Thursday class was SO hard to find that after a very good try (or four) in the freezing rain at 10am I finally gave up (thinking I just hadn't gotten the secret password from Dumbledore obviously and Voldemort wouldn't even have been able to find my classroom) and went back to my apartment to watch Sponge Bob Square Pants in Gaelic...yes I know HILARIOUS!! I think that is the most I have ever laughed when by myself. Wait, scratch that, the most was definitely when I thought the guy I liked's last name was Doody, added to the fact he was a plumber...Seriously though, I know I said this place was small and it really really is, but the organization of it is...well there is none!! haha. It used to be an English army barracks, so that's pretty cool. Except the "student union" building where everyone hangs out was the guy prison for rebel Irish and we are pretty sure some were tortured and executed there...puts a strange twist on a fun pool game or P.S. I Love You... No worries though, all is well. I love the history of everything and learning the stories. I mean I feel even closer to the Hogwarts theory when go into some of the stone staircases that are obviously hundreds of years old and still in their original state!
Dublin: The city itself is somewhat like Hogwarts as well! They had so many rebel soldiers to celebrate that one street can have 10 different names, each only lasting for two blocks or so! My dad noted when he was here that if the Irish have any more wars with heroes they won't have anywhere to put the names! I don't know, maybe they could start a walk of fame like in Hollywood!
I really love it so far though!
Oh there is one thing about the Irish-they LOVE a good scandal! I am telling you, it is faster than lightning around here! My friend Meg and I could not believe how fast word travels. I am talkin hours people. A good reason to lay low! I mean if you even thought to YOURSELF something like "hmm he's cute," there would be someone on the spot wonderin what was the "craic" (story) with you and that boy that just walked by!!! It's crazy people. Crazy. So hilarious though, and really harmless if you don't get involved. :) Those are my words of wisdom to any Americans wishing to visit Ireland haha. Just call me Rick Steves!
That is all for now.
